With an ethnically diverse population of approximately 40,000, Culver City is located in Los Angeles County, California.

Adjacent to Los Angeles, Culver City is perhaps best known as the former home of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. The headquarters of the Hughes Aircraft Company was also situated in Culver City between 1932 and 1986. Other major organizations based in the city include Sony Pictures Entertainment and National Public Radio West.

The Culver City Unified School District incorporates five elementary schools, one middle school, two high schools, the Office of Child Development (a preschool), Culver City Community Day School, and the Culver City Adult School. The CCUSD iAcademy is an independent study program that serves elementary, middle, and high school students in a blend of onsite and home school education.

Established in 2004, Culver City’s STAR Prep Academy is a private middle and high school that shares its campus with STAR ECO Station, a rescue center for exotic wildlife. STAR Prep is unique in that it allows students to work with endangered and exotic animals as part of their studies.

Culver City Education Foundation

The Culver City Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports educational programs throughout the Culver City Unified School District. To accomplish its goal of supporting young people across Culver City and helping them succeed, the foundation reaches out to local communities to secure funds and resources.

Established in 1981, the Culver City Education Foundation has raised millions for local schools, bringing together the community to support students of all ages enrolled in the district.

Working alongside parents, educators, local businesses, community members, and the district, the Culver City Educational Foundation has funded a range of innovative, high-quality educational programs, teaching far beyond what would be possible on federal and state funds alone.

The Culver City Educational Foundation is committed to fundraising in a way that enhances a positive sense of community, fostering cooperation among organizations in the district while increasing awareness of the importance of private funding to boost public education.

The foundation has funded a variety of community organizations and initiatives, including:

  • CCMS Comedy Improv

  • Marketspace Labs (a creative engineering elementary school program)

  • #IApplied (a college application program)

  • College tours (organizing tours of local colleges for 5th and 8th graders)

  • Growing Great (a school gardens and nutritional education program)

  • Front and Center Theatre Collaborative (using theater to enhance curriculum)

  • Robotics teams (across local middle and high schools)

  • Technology resources (providing classrooms with tablets and laptops)

  • Music education (funding K-3 Symphonic Jazz Orchestra)

  • Providing recorders for 3rd-grade students and musical instruments for middle and high school programs

Supporting Culver City Educational Foundation

Donations to Culver City Educational Foundation help bridge the gap between state funding and a high-quality education. By making a one-off donation of any amount, or pledging $15 a month, patrons can help support and inspire young people across Culver City and help them gain access to a first-class education. Individuals, businesses, families, and community members who make a one-off donation of $1,000, or $84 a month, receive invitations to special events and special recognition as part of the Superintendent’s Circle

Individuals and organizations that give to the Culver City Education Foundation support a variety of immersive activities, enriching the lives of young people across the district and funding vital educational programs that simply would not be possible without their support.

These include extracurricular activities and in-class programs, as well as resources for performing and visual arts, mathematics, technology, literacy, and much more. Financial aid helps students build bright, successful futures and supports their education from preschool to high school. Without the generosity of its patrons, the Culver City Education Foundation simply would not be able to provide critical support to local public schools.

Patrons can see how their money is spent by visiting the Culver City Educational Foundation’s website. Every donation makes a difference.
